How to Adjust Your Mirrors in an Opel Corsa (2016 Model).
Driving a new car always takes a little getting used to, especially figuring out where all the controls are. If you’re in an Opel Corsa from around 2016 or 2017, adjusting the side mirrors is super simple once you know what to look for. I’ll show you exactly where the control is and how to get your mirrors perfectly positioned for safe driving.
Finding the Mirror Control Joystick
First, locate the control panel. Don’t look for separate buttons on the door—the Corsa uses a neat, compact joystick.
- Look on the driver’s side door, right near the window switches.
- You’ll see a small, rectangular joystick or dial with a central position and markings for L (Left) and R (Right).
This one joystick controls both mirrors.
Step-by-Step Mirror Adjustment
Follow these steps to adjust your side mirrors. It’s best to do this while the car is parked.
Step 1: Turn on the Ignition
You usually need to have the car’s electronics powered on for the mirror controls to work. Turn the key to the “ON” position (where the dashboard lights up) or start the engine.
Step 2: Select Which Mirror to Adjust
- Push the joystick to the left to select and adjust the driver’s side (left) mirror.
- Push the joystick to the right to select and adjust the passenger side (right) mirror.
- A light or icon on the switch may illuminate to show which one is selected.
Step 3: Position the Mirror
- With the mirror selected, simply tilt the joystick up, down, left, or right.
- The mirror will move in the direction you push the joystick.
- Move it slowly until you have the view you want.
Step 4: Return the Joystick to Neutral
When you’re done, push the joystick back to the center (neutral) position. This de-selects the mirrors and prevents you from accidentally moving them while driving.
How to Set Your Mirrors for the Best View
Getting the mirrors in the right position is key for safety. Here’s a good method:
- Lean to the Left: For the driver’s side mirror, lean your head over until it almost touches the driver’s window. Adjust the mirror so you can just barely see the side of your own car.
- Lean to the Right: For the passenger side mirror, lean to the center of the car (over the gear shift). From this position, adjust the right mirror so you can again just barely see the side of your car.
- Check Your Blind Spots: When set like this, a car passing you will move smoothly from your rearview mirror into your side mirror and then into your peripheral vision, minimizing the dreaded blind spot.
Quick Tip: If your Corsa has electrically folding mirrors, the button for that is usually a separate one near the same joystick control, often with a mirror and a fold icon.
A Quick Note About the Gearbox
You mentioned the car has a robotic gearbox (Easytronic). That’s good to know, but it doesn’t affect the mirror controls at all. Whether you’re in automatic (D) mode or using the manual shift, your mirror adjustments will stay exactly where you set them. You can adjust them anytime.
Now you’re all set. Just find that little joystick, take a minute to position your mirrors correctly, and you’ll have much better visibility for your drive.
