How to Print to PDF on Android and Save Files as PDF.
Learn how to save any document, Google Doc, or even a website as a PDF right from your Android phone. No extra apps needed.
I’ll show you the steps to pick the PDF printer destination in Android. This guide keeps things simple and easy to follow.
Why Save Files as PDF on Android?
PDFs are great because they look the same on any device. If you’re sending a resume, a school paper, or a receipt, saving it as a PDF makes sure the other person sees exactly what you see. Recruiters and employers also prefer PDFs for resumes and CVs since they print neatly and can’t be easily edited by accident.
How to Print to PDF from Google Docs on Android
Google Docs has a built-in way to save files as PDFs. Here’s how:
- Open the Google Docs app on your Android phone
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner
- Tap Share & Export
- Tap Print
- On the print screen, tap the printer name at the top
- Choose Save as PDF from the list of options
- Adjust your settings – paper size (Letter or A4), orientation (Portrait or Landscape), and color
- Tap the save icon (looks like a down arrow)
- The PDF saves to your Downloads folder by default
You can also use a quicker method in Google Docs:
- Tap the three-dot menu
- Tap Share & Export
- Tap Save As
- Choose PDF Document
- Tap Save
This second method is faster for Google Docs files, but the print method works in many other apps too.
How to Print Any Document or Note to PDF
If you’re using another app like Microsoft Word, a notes app, or email, the steps are similar. As long as the app has a print option, you can save to PDF.
- Open your document or note
- Look for the print option (usually in the three-dot menu or share menu)
- On the print screen, tap the printer selector
- Pick Save as PDF
- Choose your page settings
- Tap the save button
- The PDF saves to your Downloads folder
How to Save a Website as a PDF on Android
Want to save an article or webpage to read later or share? Your browser can do this.
- Open Chrome or any browser on your Android
- Go to the website or article you want to save
- Tap the three-dot menu in the browser
- Tap Share or Print (some browsers say Print directly)
- If you see Share first, look for Print in the share options
- On the print screen, tap the printer selector
- Choose Save as PDF
- You can select specific pages if you only want part of the article
- Tap save
The saved PDF will keep most links working, but pictures may be compressed and not look as sharp as the original website.
Where to Find Your Saved PDFs
After you save a PDF, it usually goes to your Downloads folder. To find it:
- Open your Files app or My Files app (name varies by phone brand)
- Tap Downloads or Internal Storage
- Look for Downloads folder
- Your PDF will be there with a .pdf file name
From there you can share it by email, upload it to Google Drive, or open it to read.
A Few Things to Know
Pictures in your PDF might not be great quality. The PDF printer tries to compress images to save space, so photos can look blurry or pixelated. This works best for text-heavy documents like resumes, reports, and articles.
Most Android phones already have the Save as PDF option built in. If you don’t see it, your phone likely still has it – just look for a printer icon or the word Print in the app’s menu.
This method works for any app that has a print option. If you can print it, you can save it as a PDF.
