How to Add Apps to Home Screen on Samsung Android.
I show you how to add apps to the home screen on your Samsung Android phone. This is a simple process for customizing your phone and making your favorite apps easy to access.
I’m showing you this on a Samsung S23 Ultra running Android 15 with OneUI 7.0.
How to Add an App to the Home Screen from the App Drawer
This is the most common way to add an app to your home screen. Your app drawer holds all the apps installed on your phone. The home screen only shows the shortcuts you choose.
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the app drawer.
- Search for the app you want to add. In my example, I search for Ways, a GPS navigation app.
- Long press on the app icon.
- You will see options appear. Choose Add to home screen.
- The app is now on your home screen.

- Drag it on top of another app icon.
- A folder is created with both apps inside.
- To add more apps, drag them into the folder.

This saves space and keeps your home screen organized.
How to Add a Recently Downloaded App to the Home Screen

- Find the new app. It might be at the end of the list or in a folder.

- Long press on it and choose Add to home screen.
What Is the Difference Between the App Drawer and the Home Screen
The app drawer holds all the apps installed on your phone. You can search them there and they are often organized into folders. The home screen only shows the shortcuts you add. When you add an app to the home screen, you are only adding a shortcut. The app itself stays in the app drawer.
