Blood Pressure Monitor Lidl SBM 70 Unboxing and Test.

Learn how to unbox the Silver Crest upper arm blood pressure monitor from Lidl and see what happens when I try to measure my blood pressure with it. This is not medical advice. I’m only unboxing this and trying it for myself. I’m not even sure if this is actually accurate, so let me know in the comment section below if you think this is an accurate blood pressure monitor and if it’s not, how is your experience.

I bought this from Lidl yesterday and it was the last piece, so people actually were buying this pretty much. I don’t think it’s about Bluetooth, it has Bluetooth connectivity. I guess it’s useful to be able to tell in the app, use the app. They have an app on your phone if you want to install one more app. This has the app if you wanted to install yet one more app about something. Each provider gives their own app. These apps actually should be universal so you should use one app, connect all this kind of log information, health log information to one device so you don’t have to install the app from each provider from each device.

You connect via Bluetooth to tablets and phones as the device. It doesn’t seem to be very large, so that would be good. And this is the position, you have a storage pouch. Bluetooth. It’s usually the inflate, they have a pump inside the machine and it inflates to measure your blood pressure.

What’s in the Box

I will actually try to measure my blood pressure now. It’s including batteries, 3 years warranty, so this is information about what it’s doing. I’m not going to read it all now, you can pause the video and read it if you want. And that’s the barcode and more information about the device itself. So maybe it is some kind of certified for actual use as a blood pressure monitor. It has to be actually model SBM 70, so it looks like there is some kind of certification that it’s an actual medical measuring device.

Different languages, the same thing. And you have Bluetooth technology and it’s App Store and Play Store so you can use this with iPhone and Android. And about operating temperature should be between 10 and 40 degrees, so not too hot, not too cold, room temperature. And yeah, this is it’s the same in many languages.

So let’s have a look at this. It was the last piece but it was actually sealed. And I think they had it for sale earlier but I wasn’t able to go when they started selling it and I think I was lucky to get the last one but we’ll see.

Opening the Packaging

Make sure you don’t forget to close it. Oh nice soft pouch. I had one before, I had another of this blood pressure monitor before and the pump was working but it didn’t stop when it was too much pressure so something was broken with it. So everything is in the pouch, everything is in the pouch and it feels soft, like the material is pretty good. It’s not the usual cheapest polyester material, it feels decent. So that’s it, even has health for you.

Manual and Setup

Okay so first thing, it’s good they put the first thing in the manual and let’s see what it says here. So you have all the details how to adjust. The most important thing here is the way you’re supposed to adjust this arm band. That’s the most important thing. So you’re supposed to put this on the upper arm above your elbow. The rest is more or less the same as other models, it’s usually they are very similar.

So okay, humidity range, there are a lot of disclaimers and warnings. Intended uses, so no specific knowledge and no specialist expertise required to use the device. The P I am the operator, you do it for yourself except for those that require special support. So it should tell me green or red hopefully.

Power supply, this details here and here. I’m not sure if there’s anything valuable here. Model SBM 70 and then measuring range but these I don’t understand them so I record them just in case someone if someone wants to see all the details. We have the details and also for myself later if I want to see this, if I throw away this manual I can easily go back to this.

Disclaimers, disclaimers. Measuring now, measuring this is more useful. User collection and the Bluetooth. I’m not going to use the Bluetooth option but here are the instructions for Bluetooth. And yeah, it gives you color red, orange, yellow, green. Okay so the normal is like this, these ranges whatever that is. It could give some errors if there is not enough pressure on the device and that’s a lot of big manual. It’s almost finished. Accessories and spare parts, I guess once this thing doesn’t work you just throw it in the bin, e waste bin.

So okay, 1.5 AA batteries included. I’m not sure how many, it’s not clear if it’s two or three. Warranty and safety, okay contact service information. Okay so I think that’s all, that’s the manual, that’s the code of the manual. I think that’s the code, yeah this is the code of the manual if you need to find it online and that’s their website to find the manuals. Okay it’s pretty similar to the old one I had before, I think a bit smaller.

Device Inspection

Okay what’s it here, peel off. This is a screen protector I think. If it’s a screen protector I’ll leave it on, no need to peel off a screen protector from here. It’s just a cover so you can still see here or maybe it has no, it’s all, there’s nothing drawn, there’s no drawing on this protector so I would suggest to leave it on. Maybe it’s something important to remove, I don’t know.

So this is the top and it needs AAA batteries. It’s funny in the manual it says AA batteries, here is AAA batteries. What? So it needs four AAA batteries and they should be included and we’ll see if they are even included.

And this is what’s written on it: Sanitas online.de. It’s a medical devices company. Ro Italy, I don’t know, there are lots of areas I guess maybe it’s different offices, different factories. There has to be one in China. SBM 70 measuring range 30 to 280 mm HG whatever this is, the pressure I guess. Power 6 volts, four AAA batteries, regular alkaline batteries or nickel metal hydride. I would use the rechargeable batteries when the included batteries are finished. They also have the barcode here so it’s really good that they put this barcode and the product code on the actual device because you lose the manual, you lose the manual but you have the barcode here for some kind of information. But this looks like it might wear off pretty fast.

This is where you put the arm measure thing, the arm band. And that’s it, this is the device and this is the arm band. So this is the arm band here and it gives you the instructions. I’ll show you on how to place it. This is really important to put it on the right place. So this should be in the middle like on your hand somewhere here, on your hand somewhere should be on your hand somewhere here. I hope I can show it but you can see, so that’s the place to put it.

Oh and there’s the batteries. This they wouldn’t last too long. So I will use rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries after these are finished. I will use these because they provided them so no problem, I’ll use them.

You have all this so that’s the, this hose goes into the device right there. Just it’s just air pressure, just for pressure. And then let’s try to open the batteries without the knife.

Attempting Measurement

This one and this one and another one. Okay let’s see from the beginning. So now it’s off and now it’s on. These are all the things that can be displayed and I guess I say like this person one. When it’s trying to inflate it, it’s doing it. I could stop it from there so no need to continue.

This goes on the arm here so it has a code RF1A so this goes on the arm as in the picture. That’s the info there, that’s the information here so it’s made in Italy this thing I think but actually just the representative, it’s the representative in EU in Italy and it’s made in China for sure. So as you would expect.

And I will install it the same way as shown in the picture here and I will try to do a measurement right now. Let’s see if I can, if I can do it with the camera on. So I will try to install it, I will try to install it on my arm here now and let’s see how it goes. This is not medical, this is not medical advice. I’m just showing you how I try it. So it should be, no. So this thing should be closer to the arm there. I think that’s not very clear. So like this. Okay so I put it, maybe I was supposed to put it this side, I don’t know. Ah this is the pressure so it tells you it’s okay when you put enough pressure, that’s nice. So I take this thing then I’ll put it right here on the upper arm.

Something like this. I always find it difficult with this part here, it’s always difficult for me to adjust this part right there. Okay so I guess this is kind of the way. Normally you’re supposed to be resting when doing this, you’re normally supposed to be resting when doing this but I’m just doing this for a test and normally you’re supposed to be resting when doing this but I’m just doing this as a test. So the result might not be accurate but I’ll try to do it and see how it goes.

So I have the arm here and I’ll try it now. Okay so I have this, I have the, I have this ready. I put it here more or less how I think it should be. Maybe it’s wrong, I don’t know. Let’s try it.

Measurement Struggles

Okay it’s on, press again and starts to inflate. It shows you the pulse. I think there was something wrong, I put it wrong. Here okay let’s try again.

Shows okay here if the pressure of the band is okay but I think I didn’t adjust it. When it releases it lets go quickly, it’s not adjusted properly. Yeah I don’t put it right here, there’s always the problem with this thing.

I put it really super tight here so let’s see now. Let’s try again one more time. Okay again, don’t know if this thing is actually working at all. I chose person one first thing I did, it’s probably not working properly. Are you supposed to lay down and be calm when doing this but I’m just making the video now so the result might not be accurate.

It keeps stopping, I don’t know what to do with this. Try to put it upside down. No, says okay.

Final Thoughts

I tried multiple times, it still doesn’t work. This might be, my arm might, the circumference, the circumference of my arm might be too much for this. I saw in the manual, what is here in the manual and in the manual is reading in the manual says the circumference should be, the cuff is suitable for an upper arm circumference between 22 and 42. I guess I didn’t see that so I’m not sure, I didn’t measure my circumference for the arm though. Probably it’s, I don’t know, I could measure it I guess but doesn’t really matter, it doesn’t work for me.

I could measure the circumference of my arm but it just doesn’t work for me so it doesn’t really matter about dimensions or anything. I try to adjust it the same way, I don’t know. I think the problem is this edge here, the problem is with this slide, it’s always going strange and it’s not sitting in place. I could try one more time so I have it here, I will put it, place it on top there.

There, I could do something like this so let’s see. One more time, the last time, the last try before taking this back. It’s not working, it just doesn’t work. We both tried it, we both tried it, it doesn’t work.

So I guess maybe this could work for someone, I guess maybe this could work for someone but it’s always doing this thing on this arm here and it’s, I don’t know, I’ll try a few times to use it but something like this, be ready to return it because it might not work for you.
