What Is VoLTE and 4G Calling

This is the option where you make and receive phone calls using 4G calling. Even if you do not have mobile data enabled, your Samsung Galaxy Android phone or any other Android phone will use the 4G network. Instead of the regular voice call, it will use the data call.

This should be easier for the cellular data provider also. Most of the time you will not be charged for it, but you have to check with your cellular data provider, network provider, and make sure that you are not getting charged before you enable it.

Step 1: Go to Settings

To enable VoLTE or 4G calling, go to Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Connections

Tap on Connections. Here you have lots of options there.

Step 3: Tap on Mobile Networks

Tap on Mobile Networks.

Step 4: Choose VoLTE Calls

Under Mobile Networks, you can choose VoLTE calls for SIM one. If you have multiple SIMs, you will choose the SIM. For one SIM, choose VoLTE or use 4G data networks for calls whenever possible.

Step 5: Toggle the Option On

You can simply toggle this option on or off.

Most of the time you will not really see much of a difference. Maybe the call quality will be a little bit better. In some areas where the 4G signal is good, you might see a better connection.

This should be easier for the cellular mobile network provider to give you a service. That is why it is supposed to be free. Check that it is actually free to use this option and you do not have to pay extra for it.

How to Turn It Off

You can always turn it off if you want to from here, from the switch toggle.

Things to Keep in Mind

When you enable the 4G calling, the mobile network provider and your device have to support it. The device here supports it, but also the mobile network you are using, the cellular network, they also have to provide it.

The setting here is to prefer the 4G data networks. So it might still use the regular network most of the time only. Sometimes it might use the 4G calling option, but this is between the device and the cellular provider, the mobile network provider.
