Hair Trimmer Silvercrest Cordless from Lidl Unboxing and Test.

Learn how to unbox and test the Silvercrest cordless hair trimmer from Lidl with this simple step-by-step guide. This tutorial is for anyone who cuts their own hair or trims their own beard and wants to know what’s in the box, how the trimmer works, and if it’s worth it. It’s written in plain language, so non-technical people and seniors can follow along easily. No fancy terms, just the real details from an actual unboxing and test.

Why a Cordless Hair Trimmer Makes Sense

I cut my own hair and I have a trimmer that is wired, the simple traditional style. It stopped working because the cord is broken. Replacing the cord on a hair cutting machine might not be worth it, so a cordless one is a much better option. A cordless trimmer means no wires or cords floating around while you’re cutting your own hair or trimming your beard. That alone makes the whole job easier.

The Silvercrest hair and beard trimmer from Lidl is the one in this guide. It has a display for power so you know how much power is left, and it comes with a lithium-ion battery, which means you have to be careful with the temperature where you keep it. Not in a hot car, for sure.

What the Box Says About the Trimmer

Before opening anything, it’s worth looking at the box because it tells you a lot. You get an adjustable cutting length, and it might even be possible to use it from the mains, which would be a big deal. The box says 60 minutes operating time on battery, 90 minutes charging time, and a quick charge of 5 minutes so you can get a quick charge in 5 minutes. There is also a 3 year warranty, so keep the receipt.

The accessories listed on the box look pretty good and give it a lot of uses: six combo attachments, one thinning attachment, scissors, a travel case, a cleaning brush, shaving oil, a head racing cape, a plug-in power supply unit, and a charging station. So you can plug it in and it’s charging, and hopefully you can use it while it’s charging, because that would be a big deal.

More details from the box: titanium coating, combo attachments, five adjustments, two speed settings, normal or turbo. The lithium-ion battery is 800 mAh at 3.7 volts, so it’s one battery, and it’s mains operated with a direct drive function, which is really good. The LCD display is easy to read, there’s an ergonomic mains adapter with worldwide function for 110 to 240 volts, and all these accessories are included.

Unboxing the Trimmer

Opening the Box

I used a miniature knife for the unboxing, then tried to pull the box open to see if it was opened before. Other than breaking the box a little when you put it back, there’s no need for the knife. Inside you have the machine, some paperwork, and you can get the PDF online, which is a nice option. One small thing: the QR code on the paperwork is just a generic one and doesn’t take you to the PDF of this machine, so that’s not great, but okay.

Checking If It Was Used

This is an important step in any unboxing, especially with a personal care item. There’s nothing else in the box, everything is in a nice traveling case. It’s a really nice pouch actually, and it’s not super quality but it will really hold on well. The organizer has a divider here to keep the attachments from touching each other too much. There were no hairs on it, so I don’t think it was used, though there were some white fluffs and fingerprints on it, maybe from when it was built or tried by someone. If it had been used, I would have had to clean it up a little bit with alcohol or return it, but I think it’s fine.

Accessories and Components

The size of the machine is pretty good, really good enough. I thought it would be small or too small, but it’s a good size. In the case you get the blade attachments in different sizes, and the charging station, which looks like a mains power plug but a little bit smaller. The charging base specification is input and output 5 volts 1 amp, so it’s not really doing anything smart, just doing input and output. It looks like the mains connector but smaller.

The main power adapter has a proprietary connector, minus on the left and plus on the right. Its output is 5 volts at 1 amp, 5 watts only, so it’s a very slow, very low power charger. The wall plug is not interchangeable like a hard drive connector, so you won’t be able to change it. But if you lose this power adapter, you can use really any 5 volts power adapter as long as it’s more than one amp, and that’s not very hard to find. The wire is about 2 meters long.

You also get the oil for the machine, which is mineral oil, about 4 ml, a lubricant for the hair cutting machine blade, and the cleaning brush for the blades. There’s even a nice touch: Barber Shop covers for the hair. The scissors hold with the finger there, but I never really use the scissors for hair cutting, so I don’t really need them. I’ll take the comb instead.

Detailed Device Inspection

The main reason I like this is that it has a pretty solid feel on it. It feels heavy and strong enough, and I think it should be good. There are some fingerprints on it, which are very easy to get on this surface, but no hairs on it, so I don’t think it was used.

The cutting blades are white here, and this is the charging attachment and the direct connection with the charger. There is this grippy part so you can really hold it and use it, and that’s the protective cover. You should really use the protective cover, or probably use one of the blade attachments as the protective cover, so the blades are not damaged. The adjustment works by spinning the ring, and it moves the cutting part, with markings for the sizes. The smallest one is 3 mm, and there are options like 6 mm too.

Performance Test

First, I put a bit of oil on it. The oil is just mineral oil, a lubricant for the hair cutting machine blade, and you put one drop here and here on both sides. Keep this, you will need it later. To clean the blades you just go like this from here, mostly here.

Then I tried it on my hand on regular speed, and whoa, that was super fast. It has to go against the hair, and it’s very smooth. This is way better than the corded one, so easy to use. After you use it, you can remove the hair from it, and if you only use it once in a while, it’s also good to clean the blade with alcohol and then re-oil it, here and around it, to make sure it’s very nice and clean for the next time.

I also tried plugging it in. The cable is barely long enough to reach the desk, but I just did this as a test. When you plug it in, it shows the level and the charging icon on, and you can use it while charging. That’s the most important part: you can use it while charging, so even if the battery is not powerful enough, you can plug it in and use it as a regular corded machine. I also tried the turbo mode, and it works.

Final Verdict

So far, this is pretty good. It’s very sturdy, and the size is not like one of those small beard trimmers. It’s a nice, heavy size, and the weight and size also fit so you could work the hair with it. I cut my own hair, and it’s really convenient to do this. If you cut your own hair, you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, you might as well try, especially if you don’t mind a simple haircut, just a carpet hair, as some people call it. Same length everywhere, and very easy.

I will use it and write in the description or in a comment how I think about it. There is nothing really to complain about it. I’m not sure if I would use this charging base, it looks nice like this on the base, but I would probably just use it with the cord, charge it with a cord, and when it’s not used it will sit in its little pouch. The pouch is pretty useful, but most important is to keep an attachment on all the time to make sure the blades are not damaged. If you have this trimmer, write in the comment section below how you find it and if it’s good enough or not.
