How to Change Weather Widget Location on Samsung

How to Change the Weather Widget Location on Samsung Phones.

Learn how to update the location settings for your weather widget on Samsung devices. I’ll show you the steps to change cities, add multiple locations, or fix incorrect weather locations.

I am showing you on a Samsung S23 Ultra running Android 15 with One UI 7.0. The steps work on most Samsung Galaxy models including S series, A series, and Fold devices running One UI. These steps work on Samsung devices running One UI 4 through One UI 7.

Why Your Weather Widget Might Show the Wrong Location

Your Samsung weather widget can show weather for your current location using GPS. But sometimes it picks the wrong city. Or you might want to check the weather somewhere else, like a city you are traveling to or where family lives.

The good news is you can easily change the location manually. You can also add multiple locations and switch between them.

How to Change the Weather Widget Location

Here is exactly how to change the city for your weather widget:

  1. Go to your home screen and find the weather widget
  2. Press and hold your finger on the weather widget (long press)
  3. A menu will pop up
  4. Tap on “Settings”
  5. Look for the “Location” option
  6. Tap on it to change the city
  7. You can type any city name in the world
  8. Select the correct city from the search results
  9. Tap “Save” or the back button to confirm

Your widget will now show weather for that city instead of your current GPS location.

How to Use GPS Location Instead of a Manual City

If you manually set a city but want to go back to using your current location, here is what to do:

  1. Press and hold the weather widget
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Tap on “Location”
  4. Look for an option like “GPS” or “Current location”
  5. Select that option
  6. Tap “Save”

The widget will now update based on where you are. When you travel, it should automatically show the weather for your new location.

How to Add Multiple Weather Widgets for Different Cities

You are not limited to one weather widget. You can add multiple widgets to your home screen, each showing a different city.

Here is how:

  1. Press and hold an empty area of your home screen
  2. Tap “Widgets” at the bottom
  3. Find the Weather widget in the list
  4. Press and hold the widget style you want
  5. Drag it to your home screen
  6. Press and hold the new widget to open its settings
  7. Change the location to your desired city
  8. Save the settings

Now you have two weather widgets showing two different cities. You can do this for as many cities as you want, as long as you have space on your home screen.

Other Weather Widget Settings You Can Change

When you press and hold the weather widget and tap Settings, you will see a few other options. Here is what they do:

Temperature Units

You can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. This is useful if you travel between countries that use different units. Just tap on the unit option and choose which one you prefer.

Widget Background

You can remove the background of the widget if you want a cleaner look. This makes the widget transparent so you can see your wallpaper behind it.

Refresh Rate

Some Samsung weather widgets let you choose how often the weather updates. You can set it to update every hour or every few hours. More frequent updates use more battery.

How to Fix Weather Widget Not Updating

If your weather widget shows the wrong temperature or does not update, try these steps:

  1. Open the Weather app itself (not just the widget)
  2. Pull down on the screen to refresh the data
  3. Check that your phone has an internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  4. Make sure location services are on for the Weather app

To check location permissions:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap “Apps”
  3. Find and tap “Weather”
  4. Tap “Permissions”
  5. Make sure “Location” is allowed

What If the Widget Says “No Weather Information”

Sometimes the widget may display a message that it cannot get weather information. This usually means:

  • Your phone is not connected to the internet
  • The Weather app cannot access its data source
  • You manually set a city name that does not exist

Check your internet connection first. If that is fine, try removing the widget and adding it again.

How to Remove a Weather Widget

If you no longer want a weather widget on your home screen:

  1. Press and hold the weather widget
  2. Tap “Remove”
  3. Confirm if asked

This removes only the widget. It does not delete the Weather app or any of your saved locations.

How to Use the Samsung Weather App for More Options

The full Weather app has more features than just the widget. To open it, tap anywhere on the weather widget. Inside the app you can:

  • See hourly and weekly forecasts
  • View radar maps (in supported regions)
  • Add and manage multiple locations
  • See detailed weather info like wind, humidity, and air pressure

To add a location inside the Weather app:

  1. Open the Weather app
  2. Tap the search icon or the plus sign
  3. Type the city name
  4. Tap the city to add it
  5. Swipe left or right to switch between saved locations

Cities you add in the Weather app may also appear as options for your widgets.

Final Thoughts

Learn how to change the weather widget location on your Samsung phone by pressing and holding the widget, tapping Settings, and then choosing a new city or enabling GPS.

You can set your widget to follow your current location automatically. Or you can lock it to a specific city anywhere in the world. You can even add multiple widgets to track weather in several places at once.

If your widget shows the wrong temperature, check your internet connection and make sure location permissions are on for the Weather app.

Thanks for watching. I hope this helps you see the correct weather for the places that matter to you.
