Tested on iOS 18.4.1 with iPhone 16 Pro Max Titanium Black (256GB, Global Model A3296 – MYWV3ZD/A).

Change the Default WhatsApp Notification Sound

To set a new sound for all WhatsApp messages:

1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings (the gear icon in the bottom right).
2. Tap Notifications.
3. Under Message Notifications, select Tone.
4. Pick a new sound from the list.
5. Exit the menu and your default WhatsApp tone is now changed!

This helps you recognize WhatsApp alerts especially if you get a lot of notifications.

Make WhatsApp Notifications Louder

If your WhatsApp alerts are too quiet:

1. Open your iPhone’s Settings.
2. Go to Sounds & Haptics.
3. Adjust the Ringer and Alerts slider to increase volume.
4. While you’re here, check that Change with Buttons is off; this keeps your notification volume independent of your ringer volume.

Now your WhatsApp pings will be easier to hear.

Set Custom Notification Sounds for Specific Chats

Want a special tone for your best friend, family, or work group? Here’s how:

1. Open the chat you want to customize.
2. Tap the contact or group name at the top.
3. Select Custom Notifications.
4. Toggle on Custom Notifications (if it’s off).
5. Tap Tone and choose a unique sound.
6. Press Back to save and now this chat will have its own alert!

You can also mute chats here or set custom vibrations.
