How to Turn On the Gboard Clipboard
First, you need to make sure the clipboard feature is enabled. It’s off by default.
- Open any app where you can type, like Messages, Notes, or Chrome.
- Tap the text field to bring up the Gboard keyboard.
- Look at the top row of the keyboard. Tap the icon that looks like a clipboard. If you don’t see it immediately, tap the three dots (more) or the arrow to find it.
- A menu will pop up. Tap “Turn on clipboard”.
- That’s it! The feature is now active.
How to Copy and Access Multiple Items
Now for the fun part. This works for both text and images.
- Copy anything. Go to a website, note, or photo gallery. Copy text and images like you normally would (long-press and select “Copy”).
- Access your clipboard. Go back to your keyboard and tap the clipboard icon again.
- See your history. You’ll now see a list of everything you’ve recently copied, from text snippets to images. Just tap any item to paste it directly into your text field.
Learn How to Pin Important Items
Your clipboard history automatically clears after an hour. If you have something you want to keep forever, like your address or a favorite meme, you can pin it.
- Open the Gboard clipboard.
- Find the text or image you want to keep.
- Press and hold on that item.
- Tap the “Pin” icon (it looks like a thumbtack).
- The item will now stay in your clipboard until you manually delete it. To delete a pinned item, press and hold on it and tap “Delete”.
Why This Feature is a Game-Changer
Using the Gboard clipboard is a huge boost for productivity. It’s perfect for:
- Compiling research: Copy multiple quotes and links from different web pages and paste them all at once into a document.
- Filling out forms: Quickly paste your name, email, and address without switching back and forth.
- Sharing memes: Copy a bunch of funny images and paste them one after another in a chat.
- Writing emails: Grab information from different sources to build a single message.
It turns a simple, one-task feature into a powerful tool for multitasking. Give it a try, it might just change how you use your phone
