Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Locate the keyhole

Look at the doorknob or handle. Find the small round hole. That is the keyhole. On some doors, it might be located below a lever handle or in the middle of a round knob.

Step 2: Hold the key correctly

Pick up your key. Look at the jagged edge (the teeth). That jagged edge should point toward the center of the door. If you hold it upside down, it probably will not work.

Step 3: Insert the key
