In this video, I will show you how to make Google Assistant read articles aloud on your Android device. This feature can be incredibly useful when you want to listen to articles while outside, during exercising, or when you prefer to listen instead of reading.
Hands-free
By enabling Google Assistant to read articles aloud and be hands-free.
Using Google Assistant to read articles aloud allows you to multitask, as you can listen to articles while doing something else like driving, cooking, or exercising. This feature also makes content more accessible for individuals with visual impairments or those who prefer auditory learning. Additionally, listening to articles can help reduce eye strain and reduce screen use.
How to Enable Google Assistant to Read Articles Aloud on Android
In this step-by-step tutorial, I show you how to set up Google Assistant to read articles aloud on your Android device.
Google Assistant vs Gemini AI
Activate Google Assistant on your Android phone or tablet.
In the future the New Gemini AI from Google should be able to do this task but with my privacy settings and the current Gemini AI the Read Article Aloud or Read Aloud command only works with Google Assistant.
The voice command to ask Google Assistant
Assistant to read an article aloud is only having the article or page open, press the Google Assistant home button long press or say Hey Google if you use that and simply say Read this article Aloud or Read Aloud.
The Read Aloud function window pops-up with the article or page you are looking at and a play button that will start speaking as soon as you press play.
You can select a lower or higher talking speed and you can even customize the voice.
The article text is highlighted on the page as it’s being read so you can follow the page it needs. The following text option can be disabled in the 3-dot menu.
Translations
The read aloud function of Google Assistant can even do translations.
It will speak in another selected language translating the article as it reads it to you.
Best features of read aloud.
Adjusting the speech rate and voice settings, it works on well formatted compatible websites and articles.
