How to Copy Text Messages on Samsung Phones SMS and RCS.

I show you how to copy text messages on your Samsung phone. This guide works for both standard SMS and newer RCS chats. You can use this method to paste your messages into emails, notes, or other apps.

I’m showing you this on a Samsung S23 Ultra running Android 15 with OneUI 7.0.

How to Copy a Single Text Message

1. Open the Messages app on your Samsung phone.
2. Find the message you want to copy. This can be a message you received or a message you sent.
3. Long press on the message bubble.
4. You will see options appear at the top of the screen.
5. Tap Copy. You will see a confirmation that says Copied to clipboard.

The message is now on your clipboard and ready to paste.

Where to Paste Your Copied Message

After you copy a message, you can paste it almost anywhere. For example:

1. Open Google Keep Notes or any notes app.
2. Create a new note or open an existing one.
3. Long press in the text area.
4. Tap Paste.

The message appears in the note exactly as you copied it.

You can also paste into an email, a chat app, or any other place where you can type text.

How to Copy Multiple Messages at Once

You can select more than one message and copy them together.

1. Long press on the first message.
2. Tap on the second message to add it to your selection.
3. You will see that two messages are selected.
4. Tap Copy.

Both messages are now on your clipboard. When you paste them, they will appear one after the other. Just so you know, there might not be a space between them when you paste, so you may need to add a line break or space yourself.

How to Copy Only Part of a Message

If you don’t want the whole message, you can select just part of it.

1. Long press on the message.
2. Look for the option to select text or adjust the selection.
3. Drag the selection handles to highlight only the part you want.
4. Tap Copy.

This is useful when you only need a phone number, an address, or a specific detail from a longer message.

Other Options When You Long Press a Message

When you long press a message, you will also see other options besides Copy:

• Share – Send the message to another app or contact.
• Forward – Send the message to a different contact.
• Delete – Remove the message.

For saving text to use somewhere else, Copy is usually the easiest choice.

Does This Work for RCS Messages Too

Yes. This method works for both standard SMS messages and RCS chats. RCS is the newer chat standard, but the copy and paste steps are the same.
