To setup private space on Android 15 go to:
Settings – Security or Privacy depending on your device.

In Privacy press on Private Space. Unlock and authenticate on the device screen lock the press got it.

Separate Google Account

When setting up the private space you can use an existing separate Google Account or create a new Google account for the private space.

A new Google account dedicated to the Android Private Space is more secure as any synchronized data will be done only within the private space.

You can install apps in the private space the same way you would install apps when setting up a new phone.

Install Apps in Private Space

You can unlock the private space with a separate pin different than the unlock pin or pin pattern you use on your phone.

You can also setup a fingerprint reader for the same finger as the main area of the phone or use a different finger for extra security.

Once you setup the private space, there will be a tab at the bottom of the app drawer list when you tap and authenticate to unlock the private space.

The private space when locked will not allow apps to run in the background so you have to be careful with apps that are important to run in the background sending and receiving notifications or important messages.

Check if a Phone Has Private Space Enabled

Private Space How to Check if a phone has Private Space enabled.

It’s interesting that you can check if an Android phone has a private space setup by looking for the private space tab at the bottom of the apps list.

If the private space area is not there, there is no private space setup.
This can be a potential security problem as someone can check if you have private space enabled.

The Private Space Problem

It would be better if the Private Space button is there all the time even when there is no private space setup. Like this it’s harder to guess the configuration of your phone.

To delete the private space, you see the steps in the video.
Once deleted, the Private Space drawer is gone and the phone is back to normal.

Conclusion

Private space could be useful for some banking apps or private notes.
Like this you can have a separate area but I believe if you are looking to have your banking apps separate, it’s better to use a dedicated phone for those apps and use the usual apps and games on your main phone.

I’m not sure if I would use Private Space as the phone already has fingerprint and passcode unlock.
If someone can get me to give them the phone unlocked or giving them the phone pin or passcode, they can see that there is a private space setup and ask for the pass code of that space also…
