Glove box removal on VW Polo 9N Mk4 to replace the glove box with a new replacement part or to access the heater blower motor, V154 or V68 re-circulation flap motor or to access the thermal resistor for the AC heater blower motor.
Remove T20 Torx 20 screws
When the thermal resistor is blown-out, the AC fan speed will only work on speed 4 not on speed 1,2,3. The resistor is not a regular resistor but a thermal fuse with a specific maximum safe temperature.
It’s safety fuse and to replace it, you must remove the old resistor with a pair of pliers.
Then crimp a new resistor in place of the old one.
When removing the glove box, be very careful with anything marked with the color yellow.
Behind the glove-box is the airbag system. Do not touch the airbag electrical connector or the air canister.
Best is to fold up the protection fleece blanket when working on the AC heater blower motor fan or other parts.
When reinstalling the glove box, check that the screw clips have not fallen out.
If a screw clip is missing, that screw will not get tight and always be loose no matter how many times you turn it.
It’s easy to put the clips back, the hardest part is finding them if they do fall out.
